Отрицательное местоимение kein употребляется в качестве отрицания перед существительным (без отрицания, это существительное стояло бы с неопределенным артиклем или без артикля).

Ist das ein Heft? - Это тетрадь? - Nein, das ist kein Heft, das ist ein Buch. - Нет, это не тетрадь, это книга.

Sind das Hefte? - Это тетради? - Nein, das sind keine Hefte. - Нет, это не тетради.

 

  единственное число множественное число
мужской род kein keine
женский род keine
